GX vs XLG at Champions 2025: The last chance for Group A
GIANTX and Xi Lai Gaming both made their international debuts this year, though in different tournaments. Xi Lai Gaming stepped onto the global stage at Masters Toronto, finishing in 7th–8th place. While not at the very top, the Chinese squad, fresh off their Ascension run, showcased a unique and promising style of play.
GIANTX, meanwhile, is experiencing its first international run, though not all of its players are new to this level. Their performance against Sentinels immediately drew attention, and their clash with Paper Rex, one of the event's favorites, further cemented their rising reputation. Now, they will fight for the last spot at the Playoffs for Group A. Paper Rex has already qualified.

Map 1
China’s last hope carried heavy pressure into the series. Xi Lai Gaming started strong on their own map pick, building a commanding lead in the first half. But momentum shifted after the break. GIANTX slowly clawed their way back into the game, forcing overtime. From there, XLG had no answers, especially against GX’s Ara who tore through the map with 27 kills on Raze and sealed XLG’s downfall.
Map 2
Once again, the EMEA squad gave their opponents room to breathe, just enough to build confidence, only to crush it moments later. As in their previous match, XLG jumped to an early lead, but the second half unraveled into a nightmare that dictated the entire outcome. Once again, GX Ara showed he’s no ordinary duelist, putting on a performance that sealed the deal. Despite moments of inexperience and a few mistakes, GIANTX still delivered a performance that went far beyond expectations. From EMEA, only Team Liquid failed to reach the Playoffs. Team Heretics and FNATIC secured first seeds, while GIANTX now advances as the second seed from Group A.
