PRX vs GenG: Paper Rex eliminate GenG after a close battle

Jingg returns to the Paper Rex roster

As we head into Week 2 of the VCT Pacific Stage 1, teams are scrambling to secure victories. The top three teams from the event will receive an invite to VCT Masters Shanghai and the stakes are high. Kicking things off is a match between Paper Rex and GenG. Paper Rex is one of the leading teams in the Pacific Region, while GenG is probably one of the challengers that can upset some of the best in the region. Here’s all you need to know about the PRX vs GenG match including live score, team rosters, live stream and more.

We're not going to underestimate them even though they're looking a bit off. Last year we lost to them in the Pacific League so we just want our revenge.

The teams kicked off the series on Lotus where PRX had a clear advantage. Their aggressive maneuvers meant they raced off to an 8-4 half despite losing the first rounds. However, once on the flip side, it was a similar scenario. PRX won the first two rounds, but GenG's attack was similarly potent. There were several moments of brilliance on both sides.

Mindfreak and something seemed to be in their element with 26 and 22 frags apiece. Meanwhile, on GenG it was also a similarly impressive performance by Meteor and t3xture. Even though the teams had strong performances on both sides, GenG's attack was much better than PRX allowing them to take the lead in the first map.

Paper Rex banned Icebox for eight times so far. But today, they picked Icebox in what was a definite surprise in the veto stage.

We don't play Icebox because we didn't have much time to practice the map. We know that GenG Icebox is not their strongest map. So we took a gamble and showed up today

On Icebox, the two teams had a much better time performing on the defensive side. GenG had a 8-4 lead on the first half while the second half went similar to what was the first map. This time, however, Paper Rex had a clear advantage. F0rsaken led the charge with his 21 frags. This was similar to Munchkin's performance, but it was the X-factor for Paper Rex to tie the series.

After a relatively flip-floppy first two maps, we were down to Bind as the final decider of the series. Paper Rex seemed in complete control right from the get go - they had 8-0 start to the map on the defense side. With a 10-2 lead in the first half, it was always just a matter of time of when they would seal the series. It ultimately came through a few rounds later and Paper Rex won the map with a 12-6 score.
