In an exclusive esports.gg interview, RRQ’s crazyguy discussed a tough match against MIBR and the need to strengthen the team’s mental game.

On Sept. 22, Rex Regum Qeon (RRQ) was eliminated from the VALORANT Champions 2025 tournament by MIBR. IGL Ngô “crazyguy” Công Anh reflected on the RRQ's year and international debut, discussed the changes needed ahead of next season, and expressed their support for the teams still representing the Pacific region in the championship.

Sofia: Individually, what do you think was the biggest challenge in this match?

RRQ crazyguy: I think the biggest ones were the mental and the energy. I feel like we lack energy today. We didn't enjoy the game, and then yeah, the result was not really good.

Sofia: In an interview, you talked about pistol rounds and how they were RRQ's biggest weakness. Today, you also didn't win a pistol round. How has it been working on it?

RRQ crazyguy: I don't know about this one. Like, we got some curse, you know, because in the scrims our pistol rounds were very good. The result was insane. But then, every time we go to the tournament, someone will get killed through smoke, or get spammed, or get shot down. Whatever happens, we lose the pistol rounds. It is insane.

Sofia: I love that you're smiling. Even though you lost, you kept smiling between the rounds. How did you manage the team's pressure in these difficult games?

RRQ crazyguy: I know that our team is very young, and I'm the oldest one. I need to be the one who stays calm. I need to stay focused on the game because the moment an IGL loses focus and becomes nervous, they cannot bounce back in the game. When we played against Talon in Japan, even when we were down 0-2, we still laughed together and tried to bounce back. Normally, we play like that, but today we lacked energy. Since our mood was not good, we couldn't bounce back.

RRQ international debut

Sofia: Coming from a VCT Pacific: Stage 2 second place into Champions 2025, you reflected on how RRQ could adapt themselves to the situations. But today was not the case, as you said. So what was the strategy to try and beat a strong MIBR? What did you try to do, but you couldn't?

RRQ crazyguy: I think we prepared like it was any other game. We prepared a lot for MIBR. But today, something happened, you know, the guys had their moment, and then they just destroyed us. We couldn't do much.

Sofia: Forgetting the loss today, do you think this is the most complete version of RRQ, or is there still another level you haven't reached?

RRQ crazyguy: I think this one is not our maximum level. If we can fix our momentum and our mood, we can beat anyone. But today we didn't have that mood. I think we can be much, much better.

Sofia: You went from Omen to Sova in the maps, and that shows how versatile you can be. But I would like to understand with which agent you think you show your true potential and you feel more comfortable.

RRQ crazyguy: In our team, we don't force anyone to play an agent they don't want, so if you ask me the agent I feel the most comfortable with, I would say that they all are the same. I'm the one who flexes for the team, and if the team needs anything, I will play it. But I will make sure I always feel comfortable because, as an IGL, I need to think that I need to shoot and guide the team. If I don't feel comfortable, I don't think I can do any of them.

Sofia: Overall, how do you evaluate RRQ's year?

RRQ crazyguy: This year is the first year I can make it to international, so I think it was a very good year. I say the best year for RRQ, but every time we made it to international the result wasn't the result was not really good. Hopefully the next year we can make it to international again, and we can do better.

Resetting now for a stronger season ahead

Sofia: What do you think is now the most important thing to evaluate and improve for the next season?

RRQ crazyguy: I think we still need to work a lot on our mental for the next season.

Sofia: We still have two Pacific teams in the tournament. Will you cheer for both of them?

RRQ crazyguy: In the Pacific, all the teams are opponents normally, but when we go to the international, everybody will be friends, and we need to support our brothers. So hopefully Paper Rex or DRX will win the championship.

Sofia: What message do you want to leave to the fans, and what message do you want to leave to your teammates after this series?

RRQ crazyguy: To the fans, I want to say thanks for the support, guys. Without you, I don't think we can do I make it this far. To my teammates, I just want to say you guys are still very young, and you have a lot of potential to show.

Sofia: Will you rest now or grind in VALORANT again?

RRQ crazyguy: I think the season was kind of long already. Now, I need to go back to rest and be with my family.

That's all for now. Stick around for more VALORANT news, guides, and updates on esports.gg.
