With Set 9 on the horizon following the conclusion of the Monsters Attack! Championship, Riot Games is announcing a further commitment to the future of Teamfight Tactics (TFT) esports. Teamfight Tactics competitors, enjoyers, and fans can rejoice as Riot Games is hosting the first-ever TFT global LAN tournament in Las Vegas at the MGM Grand on December 8-10, 2023.



A little over a month ago, John Needham, president of esports at Riot Games, released an article detailing their commitment to the future of esports at Riot Games. In the article, John Needham mentioned TFT as part of their future esports ecosystem in which "as part of the evolution of Riot’s watch platform, we’re building out-of-game experiences where our fans can socialize, interact, express themselves, and flex their level of fandom."

Up until now, Teamfight Tactics international competitive matches have been played online. Now Riot wants to bring that experience in-person to fans and competitors. In order to carry out this vision of a brighter and exciting future for esports in Teamfight Tactics, Michael Sherman, Global Head of TFT, explains his thought process behind growing TFT esports with the start of a LAN event, hopefully first of many to come.

VALORANT scheduled server maintenance: When does it start and end? [May 30, 2023]

With the 2023 World Championship mere months away, Riot has teased the release of the the 2022 winners’ DRX skins. Having debuted on the PBE earlier in May, the main release will arrive with Patch 13.11 on June 1. Keep reading to find out the chosen champions to receive a skin by the DRX members, why the Worlds winner gets a custom skin and the teaser trailer ahead of the release.









Why do Worlds winners receive a custom skin?



For all Worlds championship winners, as part of their win, they choose a champion to have their Worlds win immortalized. Players choose a champion that they like playing, played in the finals or a champion they generally love, and have their win immortalized via Riot Games creating a skin for that champion.

These skins are typically released roughly a year after the win, and can also include figures being made of the champions for fans to buy from the official Riot Games website. As with everything in League of Legends, Riot first releases the Worlds win skins onto the PBE server (a server that the public can access and trial new patches) and then later across all other servers internationally.



DRX's chosen champions



A huge part of DRX’s 2022 win at Worlds, was that it was a miracle run, from starting via play-ins to pushing through the group stage to reach finals. Throughout the tournament, they were dubbed the unbreakable team and this has become the theme for their Worlds skins. Many of these champion picks are based on the players' signature champions; such as Deft's Caitlyn and Pyosik's "one trick" start to his career on Kindred.

The latest Hearthstone miniset promises to be the most impactful mid-expansion content update ever. While the set contains 38 unique cards, the fact that Dual Class cards are back, increases the possibilities, giving classes five usable cards instead of the classic three.



Once it releases, you can get the Audiopocalypse miniset cards from Hearthstone packs or you can buy the whole bundle for $14.99 or 2,000 Gold. The first option the shop displays is the all-Golden for $69.99 or 10,000, you will find a tab on the left to switch to the regular version if you like, their difference is purely cosmetic.

Is Pharmercy canon in Overwatch 2?



The "As You Are" short story confirmed that Pharah is an LGBTQ+ character. When Baptiste asked about her and Cole Cassidy's relationship, Pharah proudly told Baptiste that she's actually a lesbian. 



“No, definitely not. Cole and I have known each other for a long time. He’s like a brother to me. And besides, I’m a lesbian,” Pharah said.

Pharah also hinted at having feelings for Mercy. When Pharah talked about Mercy, she referred to the latter's real name in a wistful manner. 



The text for that passage read, "There was something about the way she said her name — not Dr. Ziegler, but Angela — that touched him."

While Pharah confirmed her sexuality, Baptiste did not outright state his own in the short story. However, when Pharah asked for Baptiste's thoughts about Cole, there was a moment of understanding between the two characters. The text read, "Baptiste met her gaze. There was a moment of recognition, and he chuckled."



Pharah: "Oh, you were asking about Cole?"Baptiste: "Well, I must admit he has a certain charm. I like a person who's sure of themself."

League Championship Series (LCS) players have voted to protest following the controversial changes made to the North America Challengers League (NACL). A few weeks ago, Riot Games announced that LCS orgs will no longer have to field an NACL roster. This resulted in the departure of many NACL orgs, affecting a colossal number of players and staff members. The LCS Players Association decided to walk out of the upcoming LCS Summer Split in support of the affected members.

The LCS Players Association - comprising representatives from all LCS teams - settled on a historic vote which resulted in the players walking out of the upcoming LCS Summer Split, just a few days before the event begins.



LCS Players Association announced their protest on Twitter.



The announcement highlighted the players' utmost desire to play and compete, emphasizing the significance of this LCS protest. This stand is made against Riot's critical decision which was imposed without communicating with the LCS players beforehand. This walkout will end once Riot averts the changes made to the NACL.



We stand at this impasse because actions were taken by Riot without prior communication or discussion with the LCS players. The LCSPA sincerely hopes Riot will avert this walk out by joining us in the coming days to have open and transparent discussions so that we can forge collaborative solutions to ensure the best futures for the LCS and the NACL.LCS Players Association

LCS players have voted to walk out in protest of NACL changes

Riot Games has confirmed today that North America's League of Legends Championship Series (LCS) will be delayed by two weeks. The news comes following the ongoing player walkout which saw the LCS Players Association (LCSPA) set up a player walkout in protest of the handling of the NA scene.



On the evening of May 30, Riot Games global head of LoL Esports Naz Aletaha released a statement on lolesports.com to address the future of the 2023 LCS summer split. On May 29, the LCS Players Association announced their proposed walkout vote passed with flying colors. With rumors of "scab rosters" coming into effect, and the LCS summer split starting in 48 hours, time was running out for the LCS.

Aletaha confirmed Riot Games had a "show must go on" mentality, with a "contingency plan" in place. That plan was for LCS organizations to field new rosters, dubbed "scab rosters" by the LCSPA, in order to maintain their original schedule. 



Scab is a term used by unions to describe strike breakers, workers outside of a union, and those who cross picket lines. A scab roster, in this context, would be a group of players who do not adhere to the LCSPA's walkout.



"While last week we immediately put in place contingency plans to begin the LCS season on Thursday, we ultimately decided that it would not hold true to our values that Riot’s esports offers our players and fans a showcase for the best competitive League of Legends. Players who launch Overwatch 2 starting on June 1 will get a bunch of free player icons and name cards. These items celebrate LGBTQ+ identities. Some name cards are also dedicated to specific LGBTQ+ heroes in the game. These include items for Tracer, Soldier: 76, Lifeweaver, Baptiste, and Pharah.
