Apex Legends have finally dropped some major details on Season 16 along with the Revelry gameplay trailer, and there are some huge changes including a Team Deathmatch mode, character class rework and a new weapon.
Apex Legends is due for a significant update and it looks like Respawn Entertainment are going to deliver. 2023 has been all about the Ws for them and it looks like Season 16 will be one of them. We finally have the Revelry gameplay trailer which offers a glimpse into Apex Legends Season 16 and it looks fantastic.
The game is receiving a major overhaul, and it's obvious this will be the most significant update since its launch.
No new Legend, but a whole class rework
It looks like the leaks around a major class rework coming to Apex Legends were true. The Revelry trailer confirmed the class rework and this could make it one of the game's biggest updates since its launch. Legends will be categorized by character classes and each class gets its own unique perk, adding a unique dimension to the gameplay and multiplayer element. More importantly, this will also have ramifications on the competitive scene. Additionally, Season 16 will be the first season since launch to release without a new Legend.
The legends will be divided into five classes; Assault, Skirmisher, Recon, Support and Controller. Each legend class gets its own perks. A new legend selection screen makes it easier to select the right legend and provides information on its perks.
Team Deathmatches, 'Mixtape' LTM playlist and adios to Arenas
The Revelry update in Apex Legends will finally put Arenas out of its misery and remove it from the matchmaker. As a replacement, we'll be getting a brand new 'Mixtape' playlist that features multiple Limited Time Modes (LTMs) in rotation throughout the season. Among these LTMs is the coveted Team Deathmatch mode. According to the developers, Team Deathmatch is the most requested game mode by the Apex Legends community.
The Team Deathmatch mode follows a 6v6 deathmatch format and players can switch legends and load-outs at spawn. The first team to get 30 kills wins.

The Apex Legends Revelry Update brings the Nemesis AR
We're finally getting a new weapon in Apex Legends. The last weapon to get added to the game was the CAR SMG in Season 11. Season 16 will add the Nemesis AR, an energy AR with four-bullet burst-fire mode. The gimmick seems to be its ability to fire faster with each burst. A bit like the Devotion LMG but with burst mode. The Hemlok has competition!
Ranked map rotation
Another major change with the Revelry update will be the Ranked map rotation. Instead of two maps with a mid-season split leading to a change of scenery, the maps will change every 24 hours. This will mean players will need to prepare their playstyle based on the map rotation.
The community has been demanding changes to the Ranked system for a long time so it'll be interesting to see how this affects the game.
Orientation Matches
Another new feature being added to Apex Legends in Season 16 is orientation matches. Originally introduced in Apex Legends mobile, Orientation matches are for new players to learn the core mechanics of the game and find their bearings against bots. It's a great way to practice aim and movement techniques too.
