Confirmed: FaZe drops Apex Legends roster

FaZe have released their Apex Legends roster.

FaZe has officially dropped their Apex Legends roster. In a post on X, formerly Twitter, Josue "Phony" Ruiz and Joseph "Frexs" Sanchez announced they were looking for a new organisation. They will be searching alongside Brody "Xynew" Geissler. Apex Legends veteran Eric "Snip3down" Wrona will instead be seeking a new team entirely.

Some surprise following a successful year for FaZe

There has been a mixed reaction to the news. For FaZe to change their Apex Legends roster after a successful year seems a somewhat risky move. The addition of Xynew, a LAN champion, to the team would have set them up for strong success in ALGS Year 4.

FaZe made both LAN events after the arrival of Frexs and Phony. They finished 5th at the Split 2 Playoffs, and then 6th at the subsequent ALGS Championship. They were quietly consistent and grew into a very reliable roster.

When the rumours of a FaZe dropping their Apex Legends roster first started circulating many assumed FaZe would be joining the likes of NRG in leaving Apex Legends. However, this official confirmation comes after the news that FaZe are an ALGS Partnered team for ALGS Year 4.

This means that we have not seen the end of the FaZe Apex Legends division.

Snip3down officially LFT

Also confirmed today is that Snipe3down is in search of a new team. He will not compete with Frexs and Phony in Year 4. Some had speculated that this might signal his retirement from Apex Legends but he is still hoping to compete.

Speaking to back at the ALGS Split 2 Playoffs, Snip3down explained how he felt at home in the Apex Legends community. Many teams would benefit from the esport veterans vast experience. It will surely not be long before he finds a new home.

Who might FaZe sign to their next Apex Legends team?

There are several free agents available that FaZe could be interested in. Additionally, an organisation of this magnitude should be able to comfortably pay most buy out clauses.

However, one free agent team is not like the rest. Christopher "Sweetdreams" Sexton, Nathan "Nafen" Nguyen and their yet unconfirmed third player seems like an obvious choice for FaZe to pick up. They bring with them large streams, a long history of solid results and a dedicated fanbase.

Of course, Sweet and Nafen are being linked with just about every team in the esports industry. Sweet recently confirmed he had multiple contracts on the table. It may be he has already chosen to go somewhere else. It could also be FaZe are letting this roster go after Sweet and Nafen chose to sign with them.

Nothing is confirmed, but to drop a successful and consistent team FaZe must be confident of signing a team that will bring strong results. Who better than Sweet and Nafen?
