Several roster changes are afoot ahead of the ALGS Championship.

Roster moves appear to be in full swing ahead of the ALGS Championship's Roster Lock later this week. While the event itself does not kick off until next year, teams have a very limited period to make any adjustments to their rosters for the event. Speculation is rife, however it is becoming apparent that Genburten and iiTzTimmy are set to team up with Dezignful for the event. This would signal a swift end to the 'super-team' that formed after the Split 1 Playoffs.

Other moves involve both of iiTzTimmy's current teammates, with Gild and Wxltzy also seemingly on the move. This could dissolve the Moist Esports Champs spot, so these moves are especially significant.

Here's what we know at the moment about who is going where.

UPDATE: Several of these roster moves have now been confirmed. See the latest here.

iiTzTimmy and Genburten look set to team for ALGS Champs

By far the most notable move during this roster shuffle is the swaps between Team Falcons, Moist Esports and the former Disguised roster. Genburten looks to be departing Team Falcons. He will head to team up with iiTzTimmy and Dezignful. Taking his place on Team Falcons seems set to be Wxltzy, who is currently Timmy's teammate at Moist Esports. Timmy has already confirmed his departure on social media.

This move will grab headlines and will no doubt shock a lot of Apex Legends fans. However, the long term partnership of Genburten and Zer0 coming to an end is not that much of a surprise. This almost happened after the last ALGS Championship. Genburten trialled with Sweetdreams and Nafen, before eventually sticking with DarkZero.

This gave us a peek that this duo perhaps weren't as closely tied to each other as people may have assumed. Zer0 has publicly expressed desire to team with Wxltzy before, so this move seems to make a lot of sense. The dynamic of this team will be interesting. All three of Team Falcons have been IGL's in their own right before.

Was the 'super team' a failure?

However, this is still a big moment in ALGS history. The formation of Zer0, Hal and Genburten was unprecedented. Never before has such a decorated roster formed. People will unfortunately only probably remember the 20th place at the ALGS Split 2 Playoffs. Some would call this roster a failure. By their own high standards this is probably not too harsh. Yet, Team Falcons were dominant in the North American Split 2 Pro League and ultimately did put in some incredibly strong performances.

Now, the team of Dezignful, Genburten and iiTzTimmy is somewhat of a super team in its own right. Timmy and Dezignful might not have LAN wins under their belt. However, this team is a collection of some of the games most iconic and talented competitors. They are immediately a Dark Horse for the ALGS Championship in Japan.

Other roster moves in the offing

With iiTzTimmy and Wxltzy on the move, the question was what happens to Gild. Initially his fate seemed uncertain as he was scrimming with Zachmazer and Lou while rumours also circulated about a reunion with former teammates Nocturnal and FunFPS at NRG.

However, Battlefy has revealed that Gild will be replacing Reptar on NRG. This move took place late last night. That re-opens a hunt for a third for E8, who clearly were an option for Gild that he has chosen not to take further.

Additionally, LAN champion Phony also appears to potentially have a move on the cards. Esports.gg understands he may be replacing YanYa on Team Liquid. However, this is not confirmed and how comfortable Phony is communicating in Spanish is a key area of consideration. Kurev is another option on the table for Team Liquid, according to esports.gg sources.

This is by no means an exhaustive list of all potential team changes. Stay tuned to esports.gg for more updates on roster changes ahead of the ALGS Championship.
