Team Liquid Alienware closed out a seven game win in the BLGS Regional Finals.
Team Liquid Alienware stormed to a big BLGS win in the Americas Regional Finals, closing out a victory in seven games. They wrapped up a win in style on Worlds Edge, seeing off former teammate YanYa as well as TSM in the final circle. All three of those teams were on Match Point.
Elsewhere, there was encouraging signs for Falcons, who while not at their best, were competitive across the days action.
Team Liquid win Americas BLGS
For once, pre-event scrims were very reflective of the finals lobby, with the teams who performed well in the build-up carrying that form over into the Regional Finals. Team Liquid Alienware raced to the Match Point threshold of 50, and were able to close out the win at just their second attempt.
It is perhaps surprising how well Team Liquid Alienware is faring in the current meta. They have historically been seen as an incredibly aggressive outfit, playing Bloodhound and Bangalore a long time before that became meta.
So, in this 'season of support' you would perhaps assume that their ultra aggressive playstyle would make success difficult. Truthfully, they have adapted their style to the meta, under the stewardship of new IGL Jaguares, as well as pushed the boundaries of what you can do with so many Newcastles and Gibraltars around.
This result, their first notable one since new signing Kurev came onboard, firmly establishes Team Liquid Alienware amongst the favourites for the ALGS Championship in Sapporo, Japan.

Team Falcons still have work to do
A lot of attention was on Team Falcons before the Regional Finals today. When you are a self declared super team, you are always under the microscope. Hal, Zer0 and Wxltzy have not performed as well as they would have hoped across the BLGS.
They didn't go crazy today, but did win the opening game of the day and finished a decent 7th. Like Team Liquid Alienware, this isn't perhaps their most natural meta. This is a team that expects nothing less than victory, but todays result was at least positive and they will look to carry some momentum through to international scrims.
