Sparrow was a key factor behind a huge ALGS performance from Team Liquid.

Reunited and on fire, Team Liquid rolled back the years to grab a crucial ALGS Pro League win. This is the teams best performance since the return of YanYa to the roster after the ALGS Open.

They saw off a much improved Team Falcons, who were also able to secure some all important points towards the overall standings as they hunt another Pro League title. The Falcons did lose out on second place, with TSM winning the final game to snatch a few extra points and also keep themselves in contention for the Pro League title.

Here's how it happened.

Super tense day of ALGS Pro League action

With things heating up as Regional Finals approaches, todays Americas ALGS Pro League action was one of the closest lobbies we have seen across the entire split. Heading into the final two games, just four points separated the top eight teams.

Even Luminosity, way back in 13th, were only 15 points behind the top spot. We've often seen one or two teams run away with a day of ALGS action, but today that was absolutely not the case.

Team Liquid make a late breakout to snatch ALGS Pro League win

In the final game, Team Liquid perfectly navigated E-District, finding themselves in the strongest position in the final circle. They were closely neighboured by the second placed Team Falcons however, and this led both teams to go face to face.

Their fight basically guaranteed both of their demises, but that was enough for Team Liquid who denied the potential for Team Falcons to gather enough points to pass them. The 25 points for finishing first were much needed for Team Liquid, and they have moved themselves back into contention for a spot at the ALGS Midseason Playoffs. The are by no means secure though, and will need a good Regional Finals showing.

On fire today in particular was Neazul, with the Team Liquid stalwart showing how powerful new Legend Sparrow can be in the ALGS.

Benefitting from consistency, he played Sparrow across all six games today. Sparrow grew in popularity as the day went on, but is a Legend that is almost never banned in Americas and that seems to be a big reason why Liquid are chose to pick the legend so early on. This marked a big shift in playstyle from last weekend, and the additional aggression paid off.

Shopify Rebellion and NRG will feel pressure to respond to the strong performances from both Team Falcons and TSM today, with the top of the table looking incredibly right.
