OG is the seventh direct invite of Riyadh Masters.

Riyadh Masters aka the Dota 2 Esports World Cup will welcome yet another Western European powerhouse. OG officially becomes the seventh invited team of the event as they've collected enough ESL Pro Tour (EPT) points this year. Only one slot remains for the final direct invite of the tournament.

How OG qualified for Riyadh Masters

Riyadh Masters is one of the biggest Dota 2 tournaments of the year, offering $5 million which will be distributed among 20 teams. Eight of these teams are directly invited and OG just officially became the seventh in line. But how did OG make it into the top eight teams of the world?

It must be surprising to hear but throughout 2024 so far, OG hasn't quite been getting convincing results. The team struggled in the heavily saturated Western Europe qualifiers and only qualified to one tournament, DreamLeague Season 22. In that online event, OG finished in the top 6 and bagged 1,400 EPT Points.

In other qualifiers, they weren't so fortunate. OG failed to make it through 3 consecutive qualifiers, one of them being for ESL One Birmingham. However, as luck has it, OG ended up still participating in the tournament. The team was called to replace 1win who failed to get their VISAs on time.

This LAN event in the United Kingdom was OG's turning point. Despite the last-minute notice to play in ESL One Birmingham, OG exceeded expectations and performed incredibly well. The team finished in fourth place earning a massive 3,200 EPT points.

With a total of 5,496 points, OG directly qualifies for Riyadh Masters as they settled at seventh place on the EPT leaderboard. OG will join the lineup of Dota 2 juggernauts, namely Team Falcons, BetBoom Team, Xtreme Gaming, Gaimin Gladiators, Tundra Esports, and Team Liquid.
