The ranked rollback system is coming to LoL in the first quarter of the year. Your LP will be restored after a lost game against a cheater.
If you're already thinking about finding a new cheat to boost your League of Legends account, you might want to think again. For those who suffered with the presence of a cheater in your game, now you will be compensated with a Vanguard LP Refund. The ranked rollback system is coming to League of Legends after being implemented on VALORANT last year.
According to League of Legends Leaks on X, the players will be refunded with LP to "compensate the lost of time", as we can read from the screenshot shared by the page. This new measure is expected to come out in the first quarter of 2025, which means until the end of March. It will come before the second season of the year starts.
Rollback system in League of Legends
What is the Vanguard system? The Vanguard is a security system designed by Riot Games to detect cheaters. Initially, this system was only present in VALORANT until it was also transferred to League of Legends last year. "Given these issues along with Vanguard's success in VALORANT, we determined bringing this software over to League was the best way to protect the player experience".
In 2024, VALORANT added the ranked rollback to protect not only the players whose fault isn't theirs for having a cheater on the team, but also to compensate them for the wasted time. When a cheater is detected, a red screen will appear and your RR will later be restored. Now, with the rollback system, whenever a cheater is detected in League of Legends, your LP will be restored.

Community feedback
Some players had taken the opportunity to alert Riot Games of other problems. Some of them are AFK players, server connection problems, smurf accounts, and people who int (intentionally feeding) the game. Others have been praising the attitude, saying that it took 15 years but at least the measure came. Another player asked about the MMR (Match Making Rating) refunding, something that we still don't have information about.
Overall, the community seems to be receiving well this news. Having a cheater or an AFK during the games can affect your will to play and your gameplay as well.
