Overwatch 2 buffs tanks in mid-season update

According to the May 2 Overwatch director's take, the mid-season update is going to buff the tank passive to have a 25% damage reduction from headshots. The game also plans to increase knockback resistance from 30% to 50%. Next, armor damage reduction is getting reverted to 5 damage per projective with up to a 50% maximum. Meanwhile, the global self-heal passive is going to recover 10 health and 5% of a hero's maximum health per second.

These changes aim to help tanks deal with burst damage. These updates also let tanks hold the front line better while not being constantly subjected to displacement abilities.

"Altogether, these changes should have an impact on some of the pain points our tank players are experiencing, as well as the balance of the game," Keller added. "I have a feeling we’ll see a lot of movement in the meta over the remainder of Season 10."

Overwatch buffs Junker Queen and Wrecking Ball

In terms of specific tank updates, Junker Queen's Commanding Shout is getting a buff that makes it possible to activate while she's channeling her Carnage or Rampage abilities. Commanding Shout is also receiving a cooldown reduction down to 12 seconds.

Meanwhile, Wrecking Ball's Grappling Claw impact damage is going from 50 to 60, Piledriver is increasing enemy movement lockout from 0.5 to 0.75 seconds, and Minefield is getting buffed in terms of increased explosion damage from 130 to 165 and knockback increased from 5 to 10 meters.

As for additional patch notes, damage heroes Hanzo, Echo, and Junkrat are getting light buffs. Details for these weren't revealed in Keller's post. Instead, players should be able to test out the Overwatch 2 Season 10 mid-season update starting May 14.
