From a vague teaser to revealing various details, the Hunter x Hunter fighting game created significant hype in the community. People love the franchise and the characters. We’ve gathered all of the important information about Hunter x Hunter: Nen x Impact in this post: gameplay basics, characters, and release details.

Hunter x Hunter: Nen x Impact is a tag-team game. Players take three characters to a match. While one of them is active, the other two can join the fight with their assists. Depending on the assist move, this feature helps with offense, like finding an opening or prolonging combos, and defense. Characters can replace each other in a Hunter x Hunter fighting match. For example, they can save someone from a KO and have their assists available. 

We can expect traditional team composition principles with point, mid, and anchor characters. Point is about starting the fight and gaining resources. Mid is usually stronger with the meter, so they start later. Anchors are the best ones to carry the team to victory.

There are four attack buttons in Hunter x Hunter: Nen x Impact:

Auto-combos in the Hunter x Hunter fighting game have a dedicated Rush button. You need to hold it and press one of the basic attack buttons repeatedly.

Hunter x Hunter: Nen x Impact has no motion inputs for Specials (quarter or circle movements with attack buttons). The control scheme has a dedicated Special Move button (Impact) with neutral, up, side, and down variations — like in a platformer fighter or in the simplified input of Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising.

Justin Wong had a chance to play Hunter x Hunter: Nen x Impact during Evo Japan 2024, and he published a detailed video about the gameplay. He said that the game feels like a mix of Marvel vs. Capcom in terms of movement and Dragon Ball FighterZ (DBFZ) when it comes to combos.
