What are Tormentors in Dota 2 and how to get Aghanim’s Shard

The Tormentors are a new type of building introduced in Dota 2 7.33 patch.

The Dota 2 7.33 patch brought about significant changes to the map and to several heroes. But none of the changes are as impactful as the ones to Roshan. Not only are there two Roshan’s pits now, with Roshan moving between the two pits from time to time, but the rewards available are also different. Most importantly, Aghanim’s Shards no longer drop when you kill Roshan. So how exactly can you get Aghanim’s Shards in Dota 2 now? We got you covered.

Roshan no longer drops Aghanim’s Shard upon death. In the new update, Roshan will drop Cheese on its second death. On the third death onwards, Roshan now drops Aghanim's Scepter when killed on the Radiant side and a Refresher Shard when killed on the Dire side.

So while the changes to Roshan in the new update definitely make the neutral creep more balanced in terms of the map, choosing sides still has benefits.

Important Information about Dota 2 Tormentors

  • You can target them with single-target AOE Spells
  • Tormentors have:

  • They have a bounty: 250 gold.
  • Tormentors drop Aghanim's Shard to a random teammate.
  • If all heroes have an Aghanim's Shard, the Tormentor gives 280 gold and 280 experience to each hero.

What are Tormentors in Dota 2?

These two powerful neutral creeps spawn near each base after 20 minutes, and both have a bellyful of Aghanim’s Shards. But there’s a catch, and the catch is that there’s two catches: 1) Tormentors are equipped with megashields, which reflect most of the damage you throw at them. 2) They grow stronger every time you kill them. So it’ll probably require your entire team to take one down.

Tormentors are on both sides of the map. For the Radiant, Tormentors are on their top lane while they are on the bot lane for the dire team.

Tormentors are not available right from the start of the game. Instead, the Tormentor will be activated at 20 minutes.
