Ubisoft is still sailing full speed ahead with Skull and Bones, delivering a seasonal reset update before Season 2 kicks off. 



This has been a big talking point in the community, as many pirates wonder what will happen to their loot when a new season begins. Let's go over what to expect.






Skull and Bones Season 2 preview



First, let's tackle what Ubisoft has in store for Season 2. Adjustments to the end game loop and overall seasonal formula are front and center:




Ship Upgrades, which allows you to upgrade your ships to improve ship stats and gain new perks



Fleet Management, which allows you to assign ships to manufactories to automatically collect Pieces of Eight



Helm Leases, which allows you to acquire a manufactory of your choice



New PvE & Solo Game Modes



Balancing the costs of our Manufactories




The biggest takeaway is that this is in addition to new content. You can still look forward to several new boss fights, sea monsters, ships, weapons, and other in-game items to live out your pirate fantasies.



Skull and Bones seasonal reset









A livestream called The Deck went over everything we all have been hoping to hear against a Skull and Bones seasonal rest. They started by going over the fact that all Diamond rank Kingpins receive the end of season cosmetic rewards.



As well, new items are going to the most successful Kingpins from Season 1. These are World Helm Leases and Ship Upgrade Parts. This goes alongside a soft seasonal reset for Skull and Bones in the transition to Season 2.



All leaderboard ranks, manufactories, and upgrades are reset, but you'll either get to keep some things or receive some rewards depending on how vastly you grew your empire.

Skull and Bones details seasonal reset ahead of Season 2

Ubisoft's official cinematic trailer for Assassin's Creed Shadows premiered today at 9 a.m. PDT. The video showcases the game's protagonists in action and reveals the release date of November 15, 2024.



Notably, the trailer on Ubisoft's YouTube is purely cinematic and does not show any gameplay. However, the proper first look at the game's feudal Japan setting and unique protagonists are plenty exciting.

Ubisoft's cinematic trailer launch includes the simultaneous upload of a character introduction video. In it, Game Director Charles Benoit and Associate Narrative Director Brooke Davies provide more information about the game's 16th-century Japan setting and its dual protagonists.



Naoe the shinobi



The first of Assassin's Creed Shadows' dual protagonists is Naoe, a female assassin who specializes in stealth and fights with a hidden blade. Her home is that of the Iga province, a remote mountainous region known as the birthplace of shinobi.



Davies describes her as an intense, passionate and determined woman set on achieving her goals. She also explains that Naoe's values and shinobi skillset are largely taught to her by her father, legendary shinobi and historical figure, Fujibayashi Nagato.



Yasuke the samurai



Yasuke is the second playable protagonist of Assassin's Creed Shadows. He is based on a real-life historical African samurai who arrived in Japan in 1579, which is where the game begins.



AC Shadows' narrative takes inspiration from Yasuke's recorded relationships with significant figures such as Oda Nobunaga, the Portuguese, and the Jesuits, as well as his own journey of discovery across Japan.



Yasuke's large stature and combat-heavy skillset allow him to break armor and directly engage enemies. Davies describes him as thoughtful, level-headed, and respectful of the culture he

The much-anticipated hero shooter Marvel Rivals is already out via the Closed Alpha test, and plenty of characters with unique abilities are available.



It can be hard to choose which superhero or villain to play as there are plenty to choose from, and the roster will only get bigger as the game development advances. The characters fall into three categories: Duelists (also known as DPS, they deal a lot of damage, but don't have a lot of health), Strategists (play supportive roles like providing healing or crowd control), and Vanguard (the usual tanks who can take a lot of damage and cover the Duelists and Strategists).

Ubisoft has canceled its upcoming free-to-play shooter Tom Clancy's The Division Heartland, the publisher announced on May 15.



The news comes as a shock as studio Red Storm Entertainment spent at least three years working on The Division Heartland and organized multiple betas with players. But, when taking a deep look at Ubisoft's plans, this comes after the developer and publisher canceled three other games in January 2023.






The news also comes on the same day Ubisoft revealed the release date for Assassin's Creed Shadows, the next game of the franchise.



Why Ubisoft canceled The Division Heartland



Ubisoft has halted plans to launch The Division Heartland to focus on other projects, which include XDefiant and Rainbow Six.



"After careful consideration, we have made the tough call to halt development on Tom Clancy’s The Division Heartland, effective immediately," Ubisoft said in a statement to Insider Gaming. "Our priority now is to support the talented team members at our Red Storm Entertainment studio, who will be transitioning to new projects within our company, including XDefiant and Rainbow Six."



Ubisoft originally delivered the news to Red Storm Entertainment staff this Wednesday before the company's earnings call and it's "in line with the increased selectivity of its investments." 



The current focus on Ubisoft, still according to its earnings call, is to "regain leadership" in open-world adventures and "expand the footprint" on games-as-a-service (GaaS)  experiences.



It's currently unclear whether Ubisoft will shut down studios and promote layoffs on top of halting the development of The Division Heartland. However, this would be expected as the publisher and developer shut down mobile studio Ubisoft London in September 2023 and recently laid off 45 employees in April.



The cancelation of The Division Heartland will certainly put more pressure on XDefiant's developers, as the game is coming out on May 21.

The Finals continues providing meaningful updates and changes that keep its player base interested and coming back for more. The game's latest, update 2.8.0, looks to continue with this momentum by giving melee weapons a proper tune-up and adding a new carriable item — more on these changes, and the new cosmetics, coming in The Finals update 2.8.0.

A new carriable object has been added to the Arena: Glitch Barrels




Dev note: Glitch barrels are carriable objects. Pick them up and throw them to apply their effect in an area, or shoot them to detonate them from afar. The Glitch barrels apply the same effect as Glitch Grenades, removing the target's ability to use their Gadgets and Specializations.




All Melee Weapons




Improved hit validation for all melee weapons



There is now a setting for turning melee aim assist on/off in the “Gameplay” section



The aim assist and lunge range are slightly more generous for quick melee



We have changed the way sprinting gets blocked when attacking with melee weapons and using quick melee, so that sprint is only blocked through parts of a swing, instead of the whole duration of the attack. This is tweaked on a weapon-to-weapon basis



The sprint toggle no longer gets canceled by melee attacks, so players don’t have to re-toggle spam to efficiently chase their target while attacking

Improved backstab validation



Fixed so that the aim assist for backstabs now synchronizes with the swing, rather than triggering at the start of the charge-up.

After months of speculation and waiting, fans can finally circle a release date on the calendar for EA Sports College Football 25. The price for the collegiate football game is now confirmed, with multiple editions being offered to fans. Here's more on when you can finally get your hands on the long-awaited return to EA Sports college football.

According to EA's website, EA Sports College Football 25 will have a release date of July 19, 2024. Fans will get a much more thorough taste of what to expect from the game on May 17, when there will be a full reveal, according to developers.



So far, we have only gotten a glimpse of what the game has to offer via a screenshot of Notre Dame players exiting the tunnel that surfaced earlier this week. Other than that, there are still many questions surrounding the new collegiate football game.

Assassin's Creed Shadows will be the next Assassin's Creed game to release, and one of its playable protagonists is Yasuke, a Samurai of African origins. You read that right, a black Samurai in an Assassin's Creed game set in Feudal Japan.



Interestingly, however, it's not as controversial as you think this might be. In truth, this character is based on a real-life character that existed in history. It's an interesting change of pace from the series' tendency to feature fictional protagonists in historic settings.

Yasuke will be one of two playable protagonists in the game, the other being Naoe, a female shinobi. A recent trend in the Assassin's Creed series was to offer a choice to players to pick between a male and a female protagonist. 



This was the case with Assassin's Creed: Odyssey and Assassin's Creed: Valhalla. Assassin's Creed Shadows will take the approach of Assassin's Creed: Syndicate, wherein players could play as both Jacob and Evie Frye, twins, each with their story arcs and missions. 



Here in Assassin's Creed Shadows, Yasuke will play as the combat-focused character whereas Naoe will have more stealth-focused gameplay.

Historically, Yasuke was a man of African origin who served as a retainer to Japanese Samurai daimyō Oda Nobunaga, one of the leading authorities of the Sengoku and Azuchi-Momoyama periods. He was retained by the Oda clan as a koshō, a vassal to the daimyō.

Every raid has to have a bit of a plot, doesn't it? Molten Core is no exception. The raid takes place at Blackrock Mountain, which was created when the Dark Iron dwarf Thaurissan summoned Ragnaros into Azeroth. 



This massive hellscape is the perfect location for a raid, as players will have to fight through the fire and monsters that lurk beneath.

Warcraft Rumble's first-ever raid is here: Molten Core

Activision has opened a new studio in Warsaw, Poland called Elsewhere Entertainment, the company announced on May 16.



Activision assembled Elsewhere to exclusively create a "brand new narrative-based IP," according to a blog post. Although Activision built Elsewhere from scratch, the studio features "storytelling experts" who worked in popular AAA franchises including The Last of Us, Uncharted, The Witcher, Cyberpunk, Destiny, Tom Clancy's The Division, and Far Cry.



The news comes a little more than a week after Microsoft, Activision's parental company, shut down four Bethesda Studios — Arkane Austin, Tango Gameworks, Alpha Dog, and Roundhouse Games.






What is the goal of Activision's new studio Elsewhere?



As said, Elsewhere's task is to create a new "narrative-based and genre-defining AAA franchise," according to the blog post.



"Elsewhere Entertainment is a premier and standalone studio dedicated to establishing an environment that inspires bold and diverse ideas," the blog post reads. "The team’s underlying mission encourages everyone to explore and collaborate creatively to craft a franchise with an enduring legacy that resonates far beyond games."

The creation of Elsewhere happens at a time when Activision has mostly focused on developing new Call of Duty games following the acquisition by Microsoft in October 2023. Folks expect Activision to reveal the next Call of Duty game on June 9 during the Xbox Showcase.



It's unclear, though, when Elsewhere will release its first game. But, based on what was announced today, it'll likely take at least a couple of years before we see the studio's first AAA game if they want to develop a "genre-defining" title.

Skull and Bones has had a lengthy first season. With a Smuggler's Pass, the battle against the Fleet of Pestilence, and plenty of mystery to uncover, pirates have been busy. But now, it is time to prepare for when Skull and Bones Season 2 launches.






At the time of writing, 11 days remain until the seasonal reset. That puts Skull and Bones Season 2 at either May 27 or 28.

The devs have delivered a massive update from the Skull and Bones prior to Season 2 and its seasonal reset. They're about to change the end game, and drop a slew of new content into the Indian Ocean for pirates to enjoy.



And it should all arrive near the end of May. Typically, Skull and Bones puts out its updates on Tuesdays, in the developers' time zone. Here are the times maintenance usually begins:

<p>After months of rumors about the Nintendo Switch 2, the company has finally thrown a bone to its customers. We now know the console exists, as officially confirmed by the company, in typical Nintendo fashion. </p>



<p>And we also know that we can expect an official reveal "within the current fiscal year". This means we could see an official announcement anytime between now and March 2025. This little detail was revealed in a Tweet by the official Nintendo Company account quoting Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa.</p>

<p>This also aligns with rumors that claim the Nintendo Switch 2 could launch early in 2025. Truth be told, we don't even know if the device will be called the Switch 2 because the Nintendo President has referred to it as the successor to the Switch in his announcement.</p>
