Faker continues to lead young players to new heights as T1 announces 2022 roster

With the GOAT Faker still at the helm, T1 is sticking with their developing talent while looking to take back the LCK and even Worlds titles.

Today, T1 revealed its 2022 LCK roster to the world. After making it to both the LCK Summer Finals and the World Championship Semifinals this year, the T1 squad is almost all sticking together, besides a change in the top lane and the addition of a substitute support.

This is how the new T1 roster will look in 2022:

  • Top: Choi "Zeus" Woo-je
  • Jungle: Moon "Oner" Hyeon-joon
  • Mid: Lee "Faker" Sang-hyeok
  • ADC: Lee "Gumayusi" Min-hyeong
  • Support: Ryu "Keria" Min-seok and Kim "Asper" Tae-gi

Looking ahead for T1's 2022 roster

First and foremost, the bulk of T1's 2021 lineup remains for 2022. And that's a good thing. The team looked amazing towards the end of the season even when there were some questions around their players before.

With Faker as the centerpiece for it all, this squad is strong. Oner really came into his own during the season, and especially at Worlds 2021, while the bottom lane of Gumayusi and Keria was consistently solid. Though they didn't manage to win any championships, their level of play is incredibly high, as was shown in the record-breaking Semifinal match against DWG KIA.

Hopping up to the main squad from the academy team is top laner Zeus. Early into the offseason, there were troubling reports about the T1 top lane situation. But they've managed to fill the spot easily with someone who is already familiar with the team, something that should be favorable for them going forward.

Likewise, Asper is joining the main T1 roster but from the Challengers squad instead. Asper has played with teams like Gen.G and Hanwha Life on the LCK main stage in the past. However, he's fallen down to the academy scene since those days. This will be a huge moment for him to prove that he can really take it to the best.

At the World Championship, T1 showed us some of the highest level play in the world. If T1 didn't retain most of the roster it'd be a crime. Adding two hungry players into the mix should only help them reach new heights as the legendary organization looks to reclaim the LCK and World Championship titles.
